Do I have to do anything besides just announce it? Does the subject need approval?
Depends on what you’re trying to do. Want to get together and chat about things, maybe just build your own projects? Go for it. Need resources or space from Science? The committee would need to vote it in and sponsor the SIG.

Thanks. I want to discuss a new but still controversial discovery in science which has broad implications. I wish to seek out people at DMS interested in following and discussing the science and technology associated with it. I envision occasional meeting to discuss and debate.
