Given that the Coronavirus is some significant long term threat to commerce and classes and tool availabity at dallas makerspace.(ok this is hypothetically) How can we communicate information and allow for the use of tools without spreading the disease? I know Coronavirus threat is sketchy… i know the threat is not likely. (for hacker this is the same as zero day attack… (dude like i dont know)) But first can anyone suggest what is a significant threat that would tell us we need to take precautions around yourselves and others.
Second lets say someone is sick, can others do the work and drop it off at makerspace. can we create a bin to decontaminate a project so people could give raw materials and pick up certain projects.(without the spreading of some pathogen). Again worse case scenario thought experiment. (hey other people have theories on star trek… so consider this foolish rambling to be something like that, combined with my attempts to be altruistic.)
Perhaps now it is the time to help people make more home based 3d printers and shapeokos. can we do this safely in a time of biological disease? (it is the horrible thing disease but sadly not really the end of the world nor a good reason to be mean.) If others have access to good tools and decent life, then people will be less likely to be emotional. Perhap rather than this people will be more kind and resource in times of need. (ok it is a stupid post… hate me some later k… been a week.)
You have options for cleaning/disinfecting.
- Let it sit for a couple of days
- Use cleaning wipes or sprays specifically labeled for disinfecting
- Use alcohol at >= 70% and a rag to scrub it
- Use UV Germicidal Lamps. BUT, beware as these can cause/exacerbate cataracts and can have unintended side effects such as making plastics brittle and erasing EPROMs.
