Congrats and welcome to the wonderful world of amateur radio. Wow are we really on KG now? I feel like I am getting old now.

“Old” says the KE call issued in 2014. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Get off my lawn you young 'uns!

There is also KG5GSJ

renewed in 2014.
Issued in 2004.

It’s easy to read the new system and not see the full history. It’s easy to lose track of the decades. Many records present the issue/grant date in a misleading way, and you have to dig into the admin details.

None of us have been around long enough to overlook entire decades

A good site for looking up historical license information is www.ae7q.com.

And I have been around long enough, as a ham, to overlook at least one decade. I’m about to begin my third decade as a licensed amateur… boy, where does the time go?!?

Again, get off my lawn you youngsters! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Looking forward to starting the General license class next week. If you hold a Technician license, come to the class, get an upgrade. Play on the newly installed HF radio and antenna on the space after your upgrade! I will also point out that Techs have access to 10m HF (28.3Mhz to 28.5Mhz) and these frequencies have been open recently. 28.4Mhz is the SSB calling frequency for those that might be interested.

Unfortunately the class is a conflict for me with Scouts.
Will we have an updated wiki or talk posting with a list
of the materials?

We will start another Tech class in a couple of months. We will update here and the calendar when the class is scheduled.

This is probably a naive question, and could Google the answer with a little effort, but what’s the fun in that? I was once a Novice (about 40 years ago), and had to learn the “code” (5WPM). At the time, the novice license expired automatically unless you upgraded to General within 2 years. But I really lost interest because I wasn’t really into dit-dah and 13WPM seemed unattainable for me. So now someone mentioned to me that Morse Code is no longer a requirement. Is this true?

Correct no morse code is required, I took general when I was 5wpm as well.
