Computer Science class coming up on April 26th, 27th, and 28th

Hi, I’m Remy and I’m currently constructing an introductory computer science class. If all goes well, in 72 hours it should be on the calendar. I’m posting the description here. Please come check out my class, thanks!

Operations Analysis and Algorithms for Makers

The mathematics of efficiency, presented for Makers of all stripes

A subfield of applied mathematics, operations research (or operations analysis) is concerned with determining the extreme values of some real world objective: the maximum (of profit, performance, or yield) or minimum (of loss, risk, or cost). Operations research employs a wide range of problem solving techniques and methods, such as simulation, mathematical optimization, queueing theory and other stochastic-process models, Markov decision processes, econometric methods, data envelopment analysis, neural networks, expert systems, decision analysis, and the analytic hierarchy process. Operations research originated in the pre-war military efforts of World War II and has strong ties to computer science.

This class is designed to be accessible, though challenging, to the motivated high school student or high school graduate. All are welcome—bring an intrepid and inquiring mind.

I intend to teach this class on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Please choose the date and time that is the most convenient for you. On Friday, I may choose to consolidate the classes if one or more has too few registered attendees, in which case emails will be sent to those affected.
