I thought about buying just a basic hydrographic kit to try out at the space, especially getting cool patterns on my keyboard cases, without having to use vinyl.

I would love to be able to produce accurate, detailed globes of planetary bodies. I’d like to produce a set of the entire solar system.

How big are the globe’s your thinking about? An egg-bit type device seems like it could do that.

I’d prefer something closer to a foot in diameter. A meter would be luxurious! Of course, a meter-sized globe would need to be in a decorative holder. I suppose a smaller globe could be magnetically-suspended.

Anyway, I was hoping for something in the 9-to-12-inch range.

Seems like an egg bot style device could work for a 12" diameter globe. With the laser cutter it shouldn’t be too hard to put together.

I don’t know enough about the type of work the egg bots put out to say. I would like something that looks professionally made.

Well they are basically just a polar coordinate cnc machine, so the quality is dependent upon assembly and the source artwork.

I once saw an amazing death star ornament produced with one.
