Committee Storage (Classroom Committee doing its part)

There has been a lot of discussion about Committee Storage. The Classroom Committee has decided to do its part in leading the charge of cleaning up Committee Storage and has moved all of the shelf storage into the Interactive Classroom storage area. This is NOT an invitation for other Committees to use the Classroom Storage shelf.

I must confess that I don’t understand how doing this helps anyone else.

I was assuming it was tongue-in-cheek. Talk has been quite, ahem, active today.

Richard,

I must confess that I don’t understand how doing this helps anyone else.

By everyone following the Classroom Committee’s lead, then that encourages everyone to clear out entire areas to get more maneuvering and placement room for reorganizing the space efficiently. I believe you mentioned that things were beginning to petrify.

As you recall, that has been one of my primary functions as a Science member in getting us to

  1. Clear out the brewing equipment along with @Awesomer and @Tony
  2. Move the aquaponics so we had more space
  3. Getting rid of the other unattractive miscellaneous junk cluttering our limited space

Well, that’s good that they cleaned off their shelves, but most of us don’t have an alternate location to put their shelved items, and if no one else can use the shelf, what was the point of emptying it? Is this only temporary? Or, permanent? It would make it easier to move the shelf, once everyone else removes their materials.

The motivation was two-fold.

Firstly, just to show it can be done… admittedly it is fairly easy for the Classroom Committee, but most Committees could do at least some house cleaning. There is a ton of crap on many of the Committee shelves that should be thrown in the trash or moved to off site, long term, storage. Logistics has already been making noise about moving a lot (or all) Committee Storage off site and repurposing those shelves for short term personal storage.

Secondly, if the warehouse area gets rearranged, having the shelves empty will make it MUCH easier.

The Classroom Committee Chairman (Gus) has specifically stated that having the shelf empty is not an invitation for other Committees to use that space without permission. Any unauthorized stuff on that shelf will be moved without notice.

Hmm… there seems to be a trend.

My shelf is gross. Eventually I will have time to clean it. After I clean the room. I see a trend!

Better hurry, a lot of it is being done right now!

It’s ok. I can’t think of one thing on that shelf that would give me a heart attack if it went gone. Kinda like the box of stuff from your last move. You haven’t opened it in a year but somehow you just dont want to get rid of it. When you finally do it feels like liberation!

PS try and keep the white pegboard. I do have plans for that.

I’ve got you covered.

I have no problem letting go of stuff we don’t use. Sometimes it takes another set of eyes to see what doesn’t need to be hoarded and I honestly don’t pay that space very much mind. So no worries if the sledgehammer comes down (but SAVE the pegboard) hahaha

And thankyou Pearce for whatever you might be doing. You are one fantastic rolly-polly rolli-polli?? (sp?)
