CNC Milling a Woodblock

Need to know how much someone authorized to use the woodshop’s CNC would charge to cut the plate(s) for our steamroller printmaking. I can provide the g-code or just the vector as you wish. Complicated design but simple one layer cut. 30"x40"…think the girl with the pearl earring piece by the copier

Have you done this before? I’ll do it for free if you have the printmaking skills to tell me how to make my own.

Printmaking yes, often and recently…not steamroller scale. Classroom scale. Such things were but a dream before DMS because of sheer time investment to make a block that size.
Photoshop/Illustrator yes, often and recently.
Milling yes, but ages ago. But I still think I can dust off the skills of translating the files if needed and I don’t remember it being that much harder than setting up files for the die cutter. Having someone who isn’t rusty to give me a refreshing wouldn’t hurt though before I try to test out.

Absolutely! We can start with drawings or photos. I’ll even give you some pointers on how to pick images that work for each type. (Woodblock, etchings or even multicolored blocks) There are actually some pretty awesome interfaces made by programmers that automate 95% of the process.

Programming/vectorizing/etc is the easy part (for me)… I’m mainly worried about any necessary draft angle and depth of cut for the stamp. PM!

@MathewBusby are we still green light racing to get it done?
