I have a small spot welder job and so I checked the wiki page to see if there was a class requirement. It does say a class is required but I have never seen a class held for this. Is it part of a multi tool class?

If you’ve taken the hot process safety, I don’t think it really needs a machine specific class. However, if you’ve never used one before I do suggest you ask for help.

It’s easy to use. You don’t just mash on the pedal though. There is a timer on the side that you will need to adjust based off the thickness of the material.

Yeah – I don’t know the nuances of its’ operation either. Remember, if it’s too tricky to figure out from the directions, showing up for the Metal Shop Committee meeting at noon on the 1st Saturday (and helping clean up a bit) gets you access to The Guys Who Know.

No not at all. It’s the Miller Spot Welder that was donated a few months ago.
How many amps??
Somebody expressed an interest in it, so now it’s sitting on the table in welding over by the regular fire extinguisher. No idea the amperage, and I’m not getting up right now…
It’s on a label on the side of the transformer.
That’s it. It’s a LMSW 52T. It will do 3/16” combined material thickness.
It has a timer on it to set the duration of the weld time. The output current with 6” of the tongs is 6750 amps, 12” tongs 5800 amps, 18” is 4850 amps.
