Choices for engraving, burning, adding my logo to wood products

I was wondering what my choices are for adding my website address to the wood products I build. One option is cut vinyl. Does DMS have the tools and teachers to help me create cut vinyl appliques? Would laser engraving work? Does DMS have the tools and teachers to teach me about that? How about branding? Branding irons seem like they would be a good option. Does DMS have any tools I could use to brand my products? Or know where I could get my own iron made? The type I want to add to my boards is approximately 18" x 1.6". What are my other options for permanently adding my address to wood? I very much appreciate any ideas or insights that may be helpful. For some background check out my site here: goodwoodgames.com. I would like to add that address to the short ends of my board frames.

The answer is yes. Yes to cut vinyl, laser cutting/engraving, and you can learn to use the CNC plasma cutter and how to weld to make a branding iron.

You should be able to do all of those solutions, and add the option of engraving them with the cnc router, which should be fairly simple if you are already using it to cut the other pieces. Yes, we do have people who can train you in all of those options, and in fact would be required to take the training classes for each of the things you mentioned. Most of these options would most likely require that the name be added before assembly, except for possibly branding or vinyl stickers.

Might even be able to make a brand here, using the foundry and sandcasting…

There’s a foundry? Hmmmm

The CNC Plasma should be able to create a decent brand. In fact it was a joke in class the other day, that if you work with the cutter long enough that you’ll likely end up with a branded hand at some point in your working (the material gets real hot after cutting).

I have used this company for a few custom brands on various commissions. I use the electric heated attachment in my drill press to apply it. The brands can be swapped out in the same electric handle. Always been very happy.

sounds like using a router or laser or plasma will be my best bet. So who is the expert on these tools and when can I come talk to them?

For smaller things or really fine work, there is also the Shapeoko (small scale cnc router type of machine) in CA.

Classes for all of these machines are pretty routinely posted, just check the calendar.
