I would like to ask about a shop vac for the ceramic area. Thank you

We have one.

Can we discuss updating the ceramics 100 online class.

I’d like to let the Ceramics Committee know about the Makerspace-wide cleanup in March, as well as update you on some Makerspace projects that might cause a headache for Ceramics (or benefit Ceramics, depending on which project we’re talking about!)

We have a shop vac for ceramics.

It is stored under a rack in jewelry. We use it to vacuum out the kilns periodically.

What is it that you need it for?

Awesome, well as I was sweeping under the tables and shelves, I saw there was no way to get under those racks in front of the wheels…. A shop vac would be able to help that situation. And as I am on a mission to keep our space cleaner if I had access to one on the Sunday or Saturdays when I am there early and usually by myself for a bit I could whip through that task and do some good.

Does it have a good enough filter to block clay dust?

Good question, I can wear my N95- and try not to stir up but suck up but we don’t want to throw dust over everything making the space dirtier

As long as the hepa filter and vac bag are installed yes.
I don’t recall purchasing a restock of these, so maybe the better questions is if we need to replace the filter and bag?

I remember seeing a ceramics 3-D printing device for which we were going to get online then in person classes. Is that still in the works? That would be really cool to use.

@emaciaf87 is trying to get access to Learn so he cna put some prereqs up before he schedules the class

Yes, I am working on that like @stealingsand mentioned. It just takes time, the IT part of it is mostly run by volunteers.

And we definitely appreciate everything. The volunteers do. There is never enough gratitude for that!
