I noticed no one used a plastic putty knife. it make cleaning the mold up easier and faster.
I know this is the cart before the horse, so to speak, but I am also interested in the mold making part of this. I have a specific part I need to make, but there might be a more appropriate method than slip casting.
Ditto!
I am really interested in mold making as well. I am currently hoarding hundreds of resin molds to eventually make resin masters that I hope to use to make slip casting molds for “add ons”.
Im working on a 3d printed sushi plate mold for glass slumping , sanding the print lines and such now. Then I hope to make a plaster form for a replaceable source of glass molds since they are slip cast pieces. fingers crossed!
Please post pictures and let us know how it turns out!!
Getting the thing smooth is a bugger!
Have you tried acetone bath yet?
These work well…

A thicker shell (number of “loops” when slicing) is helpful.
A fine metal file works well.
I forgot to add… You are welcome to borrow my cabinet scrapers.
