Ceramark on connecting rods

I need to mark some connecting rods with a number so I don’t get the caps for the rods mixed up. I remember someone telling me that ceramark would do the job pretty well, and after some poking around on the interwebs I agree. My problem is that I haven’t used it before, and while I have taken the laser class, I’ve never actually used it, or ceramark. Is there anyone that wants to help me not mess it up this weekend in exchange for the libation of your choice?

A little late to help you as I just joined but… I was looking at doing something similar on some stainless plates. Cermark - $80 a can, Dry Moly spray - $7 a can from grainger. The dry moly works almost as good. Not quite as dark but very good line definition. 1 coat then let it dry for 5 min and laser it.
