Cat Genie Self-Cleaning Litterbox

Before I almost got divorced over my wife’s cats, I bought a Cat Genie self-cleaning litterbox in an effort to save the cats from their self/wife-inflicted fate. It lasted a few weeks before my wife and her mother disconnected and moved it because they didn’t like its appearance in the laundry room. I got rid of the cats and now after years of storage I need to get rid of their sh!tbox.

This is one of boxes that connects to fresh water and your washing machine drain and cleans itself after use.

It’s free to the first person who wants it when I put it on the freebie shelf. It will be dusty/dirty but not filthy (it was cleaned before putting into storage in garage). It was working fine before it was re-decorated out.

I can’t guarantee it’s 100% complete when I drop it, but if it’s not I will have any missing parts and will give them to whoever grabs it. It does not have the plastic litter pellets, which can be bought online.

I’ll post here when I drop it.

Reading between the lines here, I think what Matt is really saying is that he’d like someone to give him a kitten so he can install the self-cleaning litterbox again.

Sounds like the shlitterbox is a well engineered item built to last - why not keep it and look for a newer spouse and a better mother in law?

@mattarmstrong I’ve got two of the PetSafe Simply Clean boxes. I only have to empty the bags once a week. They have been fairly reliable for several years. No issues with smells…except during the act…

They work great with the caveat they are little large and that you have to replace the motors if you over fill the bowl with litter…or at about 18 months. They replace for free under warranty too. I’ll likely seal the motors better before installing the next set, I’m sure its the litter dust getting into the motors that eventually destroys them. I recommend one per cat + 1 in the home. Also, I wouldn’t recommend it for cats bigger that 15 lbs. I’m lucky my 14 pound cat agrees to use it.

Looks like this is a newer version
