Casting Sprue Location?

Is either one of these sprue locations better than the other, for purposes of centrifugal casting? I could speculate on the benefits of each, but I’d like someone with some experience to chime in please.

FWIW, part is about 1" x 1.5".

FAT END:

SMALL END:

Fat end, with 2 sprues. Put a heavy one right in line with the length of the item. Put a smaller branch to the foot that sticks out. Think of how the liquid metal is going to enter the void. Straight line as much as possible with as little turbulence as possible.

Good luck!

That’s what I was originally thinking, but then I thought about the centrifugal motion and it made me re-think. Thanks.

If that really concerns you, put the thick and toward the back of the force path. It’s a good thought, but ultimately, the 1/4 second of acceleration is less important than the minute of sustained outward force.
