Cast Aluminum Weld Request

My father had the brilliant idea of putting our electric miter saw in the back of his uhaul trailer, unsecured, and driving across town. The cast aluminum base broke in two places, but still aligns pretty well. All the pieces are present.

Would anyone be willing to help me fix it? I can pay up to $40 and am willing to work around other people’s schedule.

Cast Aluminum is pretty difficult to weld properly because it’s “dirty” and contaminates the aluminum puddle. I’d recommend TIG Brazing if you know how to do that.

If you don’t want to do that then ask one of the old folks to Oxy fuel weld or braze it for you.

Way outside my knowledge base -
What about using JB Weld / industrial epoxy?
Seems like any kind of welding / brazing would run the risk warping the base.

I have no experience using these but I recently picked up a pack from Harbor Freight Tools. Brazing type rod used with a gas torch. Not sure how it would work on cast aluminum but something to look into.

I would post pictures of what you need to weld, this will let people get an idea of what you need to have fixed.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll do it in the AM tomorrow.
