I spent last Sunday working on my 2007 Dodge Sprinter van in the automotive committee area. Bought the van mid-year from a local post on craigslist. This one was the worse of a pair that was available, as someone else beat me to the better of the 2 vans. I have been doing research and parts collecting for a while, and it was time to get more work in on the van.
For 8 hours of my labor(plus a little help from friends) and $350 in parts from Ebay, I was able to eliminate a service and repair bill for over $5300 from the local dealership.
What makes this really resonate, is that the fellow that sold me the van gave me a compelling price on the van knowing it needed over $5000 in work, as the estimate showed.
I simply needed to make sure the van had good bones before the purchase, so to speak.
Many thanks to Brandon for keeping the Automotive committee area in full function.
Also thanks to Allen for assisting with the AC recharge last month.
Now I feel like the year-end holiday expenses are all covered.
