Carbide Create questions

I’m just starting to play with Carbide Create in anticipation of the Shapeoko XXL. I’m having some issues with importing my F360 dxf export. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

This is the feature that Carbide Create sees:

This is the feature that F360 created (ignore any size difference):

In all fairness, it is a fairly small feature.

Just for giggles you might try drawing a set of concentric circles in Carbide Create from very small to large and then import from Fusion to CC. Then you might see a radius limitation in CC and know what it is. Easy to do, though doesn’t fix it.

Bob

I don’t think it’s a size issue. I think it’s either a dxf or a CC artifact. I imported my dxf into Inkscape, saved it as svg, then imported the svg into Carbide Create. It fixed all those problems.

Carbide Create (CC) is going to be mediocre at best. I used Vcarve Pro to create the gcode, which you will find to be more robust. There is a Shakeypoo post processor for it. I did use Carbide Motion as the controller and to transfer the gcode. Cheers.

Not to necro this thread, but I believe I’ve found the solution on the Carbide Create Forum. It works perfectly.

Summary:

  • Right click on the fusion sketch in the Fusion browser
  • Export as .dxf
  • Open that .dxf in LibreCAD
  • Export as MakerCAM SVG
  • Import that .svg into CarbideCreate
