'The
nation’s overcrowded prison system is in a sad state, and it’s not made
any better by only having access to this incredibly basic 4.3-inch JP5mini tablet.

Available to inmates for $70, the Jp5mini is actually an upgraded (“upgraded” being a relative term) version of JPay’s JP4 tablet that introduces wireless connectivity in prisons where that luxury has been installed by the company.

It’s built
like a tank with a clear polycarbonate plastic housing so that it can’t
be used to smuggle contraband. The JP5mini is shockproof, waterproof,
and has been drop-tested from heights of 30 feet. Even if thrown against
a wall, the JP5mini will keep on running.’

Dang… That would be perfect for kids! I want to be able to purchase a tablet (basic or not) that is virtually indestructible! haha…

The good news is you’re in Texas, where hand guns are readily available and convenience stores are plentiful. Fill out the paper work at the Crazy Gun Dealer, play your cards right, and you could be filling out your request for one from the comfort of your own bunk in about 5 days…

I can see the instructables now on how to turn it into a shiv.

You beat me to it! I was wondering the same thing; how easily could you turn that tough case into a deadly weapon!

…X…

I was reading that they don’t have issues with them being used as weapons, because nobody wants to loose their privileges to them.
