I’ve used the laser to make stamps from regular Speedball rubber. This stuff is probably a far better choice.
I think it would be great to have a rubber stamp class. I would love to have my logo on a stamp and a personal book stamp (I loan books out a lot and the phone # is wrong on my old ones),
Note that you can’t really cut this out on the laser. You etch, then cut
out by hand.
I’d be willing to teach a class on it. I’ve found that classes where you
need to use any of the CNC machines for the project are kind of impractical
for a hands on workshop, though.
What would you guys want to get out of the class? Just a
lecture/demonstration would be easiest for me.

Since I KNOW nothing about doing this, I guess I’m just being devil’s advocate, here, but there are many videos out there which appear to say that the stamp is cut out by the laser. Here is one such.
Very excited to see this happen. I love printmaking in all shapes and forms!
I don’t know about other videos, but the one you linked to shows the laser etching the rubber, not cutting it. It also seems to produce A LOT of smoke…
I disagree, but perhaps we’re arguing semantics. Technically, it is an “etch” since it does not “cut through”, but it produces a largely finished stamp, where in one need only clean up chips/remove soot, as opposed to “cut by hand”, which to me implies you would need to use a hobby knife or similar to remove all the depressed material, the laser having “etched” the outline of the design.
The tech tips page from the source linked by Cairenn seems to suggest the same: a laser doing most of the work, you need only scrub off soot/chips. That seems largely different to me than “cut by hand”.
Here’s another video showing a largely finished product straight from the laser.
I’ve always cut it out by hand after I’m done etching. You could cut
through it…maybe? But it’s not worth the stench and laser time (to me,
at least.)
