Can the chairpersons clarify some conflicting information

In this thread; Which class is required - #4 by Bill both @AlexRhodes and Tom (through a proxy) have made conflicting statements regarding the need for a class for using the wood turning lathe.

The intro to woodshop / woodshop 101 is required before using the table saw and jointer. Other tools I would recommend asking for help if it is your first time. Tom is usually around to help on the lathe. There are also instructional videos that can help as a refresher for tools but are not intended to supplement the 101/intro.

Responding as proxy for Tom Cook:

“As of now, all of the wood shop’s major power tools require training before use except the scroll saw and sanding tools. The spirit of this is to ensure everyone working in the wood shop has taken Wood Shop 101.”

Tools wiki page to be updated as/when time allows.

Since both are ‘chair persons’ for the Wood shop and presumably authoritative for this, it is doubly confusing. Could we have a definitive statement made where the two chairs agree? Members should follow rules, but we really need rules to be clear if we expect that.
