I’m not sure what this is. been there 3 days now. Likely motor oil or something from automotive. Can someone properly dispose of this? A whole table and someone has to leave it on a barrel to be knocked over. please and thank you.
Nick,
Can you send me an image of who left it ?
if someone would put it on the automotive shelves - I’ll pick it up thurs evening
yes sir. will do shortly.
I’ll review the auto camera and see if I can find out who that is
thank you. it was on the 17th around midnight (although the film says 18:00)
Maybe they were trying to give it to the machine shop for cutting oil…LoL
I worked for a grumpy old guy many years ago that saved all of his used Harley oil and used it on his lathe for drilling big through holes.
A preemptive “do you want this” would be nice, not just dropping it off
It smelled like unusable oil, I put it in automotive
Need to offload the folks that think that is "okay to do "
Thank you, Luke!
…
hey, they paid their $50. they’re ENTITLED!
but yes, I agree.
Paying their $50 doesn’t entitle them to anything more than you or I.
“Entitled” my ass. Unless there is some good explanation for leaving the old oil behind - he is welcome to use other parts of the Space but not automotive - maybe machine shop lessons?
I agree. I’ve actually had someone use the words “I pay my $50 and …”
I haven’t heard that one yet - but I know there are some “members” that expect to get at least $50 worth of “whatever” out of the Space every month.
Let there be no illusions, $50 a month buys you the privilege of waiting on the one tool you need at any given moment to free up in 6-12 hours while the rest of the entire workshop sits idle.
Rarely have I had to wait more than a few minutes for a given tool.
Those with no patience and those that don’t want to teach a class or HELP total strangers should not be allowed to be members.
$50 gets you the privilege of being allowed in the door. the rest is a co-operative effort. only some people fail to cooperate.
NIck,
I have news for you…That just of “motor oil” did not originate from the automotive area at the Space ! It was hand carried in the man door by the gentleman who left it in the machine shop. My guess is it may have been more convenient to leave it at the Space instead of another stop at the local auto parts store? No idea really.
Stan is going to post the images shortly because I am at work (still)…
I will dispose of it properly tho -
I joined the space last year to have access to the MultiCam. I watched the talk forum as much as possible to get in on a multicam class. Finally, I got into a class at the beginning of November and it was insinuated, you just send an email to the supervisors and get a check out scheduled. Then I see a check out on the calendar (of course it filled within hours). It doesn’t look like I’ll get checked out until sometime in Q1.
…rant off…
Of course on the other side of things, I have made use of the machine shop, metal shop, wood shop, and automotive. I feel that I’ve gotten plenty of value out of my membership, and I’ve met some interesting people along the way.
I guess what I’m saying is that it really depends which tool you’re looking to use whether or not you have to wait to use it.
Someone has the badass electronics crimpers? A few minutes.
Someone is using the MIG welder? It could be awhile.
YMMV.
Did you email the Multicam supervisor group? I did that in October and was scheduled a couple weeks later. I know they are scheduling test out classes now as well but the old method should also work.
