Can my rfid chip go through an MRI?

Can someone ask Stan the brand of RFID we use? I am at the digital center and they say i cannot have an MRI unless i can show (document) that it is compatible

We buy our implantable ones from Dangerous Things
… https://www.dangerousthings.com/transponders

This is from there FAQ. However, I would contact the person that implanted it and ask them what model was implanted.

Q: Are x-series transponders compatible with MRI machines?

A: Yes. We have had past customers with both xEM (125KHz) and xM1 (13.56MHz) tags go through MRI machines of the 1T, 1.5T, and 3T strengths just fine. There is blurring of the image around the area of the tag, but the tag itself does not heat up or explode or get “ripped out”. Also, the MythBusters were kind enough to prove this for us in season 5, episode 19 (MythBusters Revolution) by installing a 134KHz VeriChip transponder into both a piece of a pig and Kari Byron, and running them both through an MRI scan. You can clearly see the image distortion in the episode if you’re interested in seeing what it does to the MRI image.

Here is a PubMed article on RFID transponder compatibility with MRI machines up to 3T; Functionality of veterinary identification microchips following low- (0.5 tesla) and high-field (3 tesla) magnetic resonance imaging - PubMed – Functionality of veterinary identification microchips following low-field (0.5 tesla) and high-field (3 tesla) magnetic resonance imaging.

There is also an MRI Safety website entry for the commercial VeriChip, sold between 2004 and 2010, to which our transponders are extremely similar.

Finally, we have our own MRI safety documentation for our x-series transponders that can be supplied to your healthcare provider if you are having issues getting an MRI done because of concerns about your x-series implant.

My reply is not meant as an answer but to help you confirm. I believe our injectable tags come from here…

This an excellent heads up for other folks; thanks for publicly posting links.

I’ve run into this before as well and had to scrounge up info super quick. It’s now documentation I send prior to known appointments and keep on my phone in case of emergency.

Thank you all! I’m going to send all this to Southwestern’s MRI lab to get it pre-approved. I don’t want to take out my rfid - love it!

I had a knee MRI recently. The RFID in my hand was deemed OK by the technician.

Location of the MRI might be an issue.

FWIW, my chip survived the MRI just fine.

Where did you have your MRI done? I can have my doctor write a script for there.

Based on Google Maps, it was:
Envision Imaging of Allen
1111 Raintree Cir #100
Allen, TX 75013
(behind TX Presbyterian Hospital at 75 and Exchange Parkway).

Phone: (972) 747-8300
Fax: (972) 747-9099

I got my MRI! And my brain is fine - not filled with milk chocolate as my husband lovingly suggested.

I learned to give the MRI techs plenty of lead time. When I went to a different doctor I told him that I had an implant and gave him a copy of the Dangerous Things information:(https://forum.dangerousthings.com/uploads/default/original/1X/289af3580c98807bdd9de089a27d73f383ce7bce.pdf)
I contacted the MRI clinic before my appointment and gave them a copy of the same documentation. And at the appointment I brought the documentation with me.
The advance notice seems to have been the key to it. And, of course, there were no problems.
Thanks for all the help, everyone.
Graham
