Can I laser on wood that has a mineral oil/wax finish?

I made a laser-engraved wooden plaque (on Blitzen), turned out great. I brought it home and put one coat of an oil/wax finish on it. Then I realized I forgot to etch my signature and date on the back. Can I still do it, or am I out of luck?

Eve, you should be just fine. Make sure the air assist is on and you may want to use masking paper. Otherwise the vapors may condense back on your finished surface.

Already answered but short answer is yes, and sometimes it is what you want to do first.
I often use to apply the finish to oak plywood first and let it dry. It made cleaning off the soot much easier after engraving - just use Pledge or something similar. cheers!

It worked great. The contact paper didn’t stick so well, though!

Wouldn’t want to pull you finish off so the paper is pretty low stick. Kinda like frog tape.
