Can a laser cut copper clad board?

Can a laser cut a copper clad board, so as to make a pcb?

I took the intro course to laser but I think need more help. Is there anyone in laser that do a walk through for 30 bucks?

Check out some of the other related threads while you wait to be helped…

Edit to add: this is a sincere suggestion, as there have been some good discussions about it before… I’ve never done it, so can’t really help directly… Best Wishes!

The lasers cannot be used to cut metal. ( https://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Laser_Cutter_Materials ) that includes the copper clad boards used for PCBs.

You can, however, use the laser to remove the resist on a copper clad board, then etch the board in an acid like Ferric Chloride or a Muriatic/Hydrogen peroxide mixture.

I’ll be at the space from around 7am to 11am if you want to chat in person. I don’t make PCB’s but I do etch copper quite a bit.

There’s a Shapeoko 2 in Creative Arts.

There was talk in training of a Cnc machine in electronics that needs some love to be a dedicated source for such things.

I am repeating what I heard, and really don’t understand this one, so forgive me if I’ve got it all wrong.

If you want to do the toner transfer method, we have the dye sublimation press, which will give you really good even heat. @LisaSelk teaches the training class for it.
