Re show way to contact instructor (email was mentioned)
My preference on creating a class would be a blank I could fill in with "best way to contact instructor" and not limiting it to just email
For me personally, email is about the very slowest way to get hold of me if you're not already in my address book since I have my junk filter setting set to junk everything that's not a contact and then I scan through it 1-2x a week and fish out the tiny percentage of stuff to keep. It's a PIA to do so the only other time is if I'm explicitly expecting something. I don't just check it without reason more than a couple times a week, less if busy.
I did include mycell phone as a contact once (text is the very fastest response for me and I'm totally fine with students having it) but hesitated doing again because I didn't want to wind up on junk phone lists...if I felt safe about that, I'd choose that.
Anyone know how smart/stupid that would be to put cell phone in the class description or a field if that becomes available? I'd do it but unsure on what information gets gathered from this type of thing...
I've been putting contact info on the bottom of my descriptions that has my talk handle and my fb contact (most folks will do one or the other). But email for me? Yeah, it's not going to be responsive to anything time sensitive.
I'm trying to be consistent including this, but it's hit or miss (I often have to edit and add later so it'd be nice if it were included in the process so I dont forget. Or other classes that don't do this, those folks will start. It's hard to remember sometimes.
So to sum up the blather...my thoughts/request would be a blank to fill out when entering class that is generic contact info provided to students if they had questions. Not just limited to email or required email
