CAD/3D Modeling Class Needed

I want to make things. I like to make things. I’ve taken the HAAS class and I plan to take the 3D Printer class, CNC Router class, etc.

The problem is, I’m no good at CAD or 3D Modeling software. I need a class so I can make use of all the fancy gadgets that require a 3D model in order to make things.

Sadly, Jeremy’s holoprojection is only in 1-D…

Hear, hear!

Minimal muddling about in CADs of various varieties, but no concrete stills obtained. An intro class might boost me into self-sufficiency…
If you want my vote, and I know you don’t, FreeCAD would be 'ware of choice for a variety of reasons largely centered around it’s being freeware and thus available anywhere I can find the horsepower to run it.
I reckon anything paremetric would lend itself to similar concepts, though, so bring on the AutoCAD…
please?
:slight_smile:

To my understanding AutoCAD is not parametric, but Inventor is.

I’ll cede the parametricity of Autocad as i have no idea.

Is anyone willing to teach this?

@frank_lima is teaching a class that starts soon that is a project focused class teaching many of the aspects of 3D design and modeling. It will be using Autodesk Inventor and the end product will be a pair of CNC routed go carts.

@Jeremy

The class will cover most of the tools I think you are interested in, with respect to both how to use the tool but also understanding how to best model and design for each tool to take full advantage of their respective strengths and weaknesses.
