Buying transfer paper for vinyl decals

I had a recommendation to buy shelf paper from dollar tree to use as transfer paper, but dollar tree doesn’t stock clear at the moment. I bought some “removable” clear shelf paper from walmart as a test and it’s not sticky enough to lift the vinyl off the wax backing.

I’ve looked on amazon and it seems the quality transfer paper is more expensive than the vinyl itself. I suspect it’s small lots + shipping in play here.

Since the makerspace can afford to buy that tape in bulk, can we agree on a price for just the transfer paper and I’ll just buy it from the space? I want to cut vinyl in colors not stocked by the space and can’t seem to pay for just the transfer paper on the kiosk. Is $1 per foot worth it to DMS?

or does someone else have a better suggestion?

What size roll do you need @evanfort ? I have a 10" (IIRC) roll of clear transfer tape at home that I wouldn’t mind donating to the space.

most of the vinyl I buy is 12" just because that is common, but honestly 10" would work for most of the things I’ve done. I guess it would depend on the project.

The official price is, as you guessed $1 per foot for transfer paper at DMS. I could have sworn that it was on the kiosk under Vinyl.

I think the kiosk has the combined vinyl/transfer paper cost of $2/ft.

I’ll drop off that roll next time I’m at DMS, probably late tonight or tomorrow morning.
And yeah, if you don’t mind a small overlap in your transfer tape any size roll will do, assuming you’re applying it yourself and remember which side to pull from :stuck_out_tongue:

Awesome - I may have missed it, but either way.

Just down the road, near Luna and 35, there’s a vinyl supplier called Grimco. They’re mostly a warehouse but are happy to take walk in customers.
