Button Maker / Circle Cutter: New parts

Hey everyone,

I used the circle cutter and noticed it is missing some parts that holds the cutting shaft in place. I’m talking with American Button Machines about it and getting pricing for the replacement parts it needs. It should be less than $10, and since their in Plano they may let me just come pick the stuff up so we don’t have to ship them.

Should I get anything else while I’m at it? Like an extra cutting wheel or something? Or do we already have spare parts lying around that I’m not aware of?

We replaced the larger one with a punch not the cutter. Personally, I’d recommend doing the same for the smaller. More dependable.

The rotary cutter was a bit frustrating to use, but I thing it mostly had to do with the cutter shaft not staying in the same place. Once the parts are replaced I imagine it would be fairly decent. The handle may need to be lubricated a bit too, but that’s easy enough.

I think even if we do get a punch cutter, we might as well repair the rotary. Agreed?

I think doing both would be good, go for it! I like both of the cutters for different reasons. :slight_smile:

So shall I continue with purchasing the parts, or is there someone who generally handles this for CA who should do it instead?

That would be me. I can do this on Friday but will need specific info on the parts needed. If you need it fixed sooner, I can reimburse you for the parts.

I agree - a punch would be nice.
So two ways to do it
1 - tell @artnerdray what needs to be bought and he will get them purchases (closer but no $ out of your pocket)
2 - buy the items and keep the receipt - if you can send a photo of the receipt (via your phone) with you address along with the sentence: purchase ok’ed by Nicole and Ray for CA to [email protected] when you get to the space put the receipt in the black letterbox next to the interactive (concrete floor) with CA reimburse to ____ your name on it somewhere.

Thanks for being on the lookout and contacting the button company. You have my blessings to get it fixed up correctly. I’m willing to spend $50 on whatever we might need to better equip the button maker in your eyes - I’m not sure if we are ready to go up to the pro/cutter but I’m willing to discuss it if you feel its a need/want.

I ordered the parts today, attention me, shipped to the space. They said I would get an emailed invoice, so I’ll provide that when I have it. Where do packages get left if no one is there to receive them (unlikely)?

Usually @StanSimmons or @Photomancer will put the items in CA if you tell them the shipping number. They are wonderful.
