No real reason I was doing it, I haven’t even powered up the 7104 in a few years. But my plug in set is rather thin, and I don’t think I have anything over 100mhz, which comes nowhere close to what the chassis will do. The 7A29 modules that were designed for it ain’t cheap. A couple of 7A24 modules gets 400 MHz, and 4 channels, and has plenty of $$ left over towards a time base, compared to one channel on a 7A29 .
Suppose I should go figure out what a suitable time base runs, even though I’ll forget about it before I get serious.
And though the rigol on my bench does most of what I want a scope for, there is something to be said for analog scopes at times, and adding 400 MHz to the tek is almost certainly cheaper than a 400 MHz digital scope.
So nothing to see here, just random musings of someone looking at hardware that was designed when he was 10.
