So I’m moving swiftly along like a snail while fixing my Mazda, and now I have the stuff to move forward constructing my short block and adding all the stuff to it to lengthen that block.
Now I’m sure you know what the rules are, and the owner or chain of owners and whether or not it is even appropriate to ask. But I was salivating over those pretty red racks. What is the process to request that perhaps i could use this or another stand for about a week oir so while I build up my ride?
That one isn’t a DMS tool, I bought it personally to use on 240 rebuild, we still need it as soon as block gets back from shop. Harbor freight or amazon have stands for around $50
I know nobody asked, but unless it’s too big to move on your own (i.e. smaller than a big block), just use a bench. I have tried all sort of stands, but I still prefer the bench to most other ways of holding an engine up off the ground (which I have used, and DOES suck!) during assembly. Once you get to iron heads on an iron smallblock, you’ve reached the limit (or at least, I have), but for smaller, especially aluminum components, stands are generally over rated and just get in the way when not in use…
Is there any particular reason I cannot simply build my engine on top of the plastic pallet I used to store parts for the past week?
By the way, the last of the parts that I need (or at least realize that I need) came in yesterday. I would think that it could be a reasonable assumption to expect that I could be found there at DMS for the next 80 hours or so…
