I am interested in communicating how we can help each other as well, especially as people start to have family exposed and have to quarantine themselves. For example finding out if someone needs groceries or other supplies dropped off on their porch.
This may be a stretch, but it would be fun and interesting to see if we could build some machinery to make protective respiratory masks. The n95 masks require very unique materials and machines, but the general purpose, āfor the publicā masks are apparently being produced by all sorts of companies in China at the moment, and theyāve scaled up that production impressively:
I saw a video from a few days ago of a relatively simple looking machine that was made in an automotive factory that would just unwind a large roll of some low grade filter paper, slice it, and then glue + staple some elastic cord to it. I would bet in the near future itās likely that there will be demand for more than 1 of these style masks per person per day in the US.
Apparently the largest manufacturer of medical grade masks is based in DFW (NRH to be specific)
@Malcolmputer and I can pick up groceries for people who are immunocompromised and/or in any of the high risk categories in the Plano, Richardson, Wylie, and Allen areas.
I am part of this group and if someone is interested I can send you join the slack channel.

I would love to help anyone who needs groceries or other supplies as well. Iām in Plano but Iām willing to drive if needed.
I know weāve got lots of ideas, but lets keep this topic focused on the organization structure we need, we can discuss specific ways to help in other threads.
According to an article on CNN tonight, this site will shortly (Thursday?) be sharing plans for open source masks. Part of their āhundred million masks challengeā.
