Box on Donation Shelf Marked "TFA"

Hello. The Texas Fire Alarm guys, who are in the Space this week installing fire alarm stuff, inadvertently placed a box of stuff they need, marked “TFA”, on the donation shelf yesterday (OOPS!!!). It disappeared overnight and they need it back to finish what they are doing. If you know of its whereabouts or can help, please do so. Thanks…

This would probably be a good time to suggest printing a large label marking it the “FREE SHELVES” and explaining that if it does not fit on the shelf, do not put it here. Also, no CRT monitors, etc.

This might qualify as something worthy of spamming the membership. There is no guarantee that whoever took home a cool free box o stuff reads the forums, or will do so in a timely manner even if they do.

I agree that maybe labeling the shelves bolder, brighter, or otherwise more clearly could prevent such mishaps; not just for a vendor doing work, but maybe a new member who is confused about project storage, or just sets something down to go to the restroom at exactly the wrong time to do so.

Just FYI to all, I think the box of stuff was identified and returned (or will be in the near term).

Also, anyone that wants to or feels it is a good idea can label or mark the shelves in a more noticeable or attention getting way. Anyone. Bueller…? Bueller…?

Oh, good. I do think the point remains that although the old DMS email list was replaced with talk, we should remember that the ability remains to email the entire membership should a situation such as this occur (not specifically talking about “free stuff”, y’all get the drift.

To the point of marking the shelves and perhaps " doing" rather than talking. You are absolutely right and I hesitated before commenting on that at all since doing is better than talking for action items, but making signage others want to look at is probably outside of my particular skillset.

Yep…I generally agree. Sometimes we might need a way to reach everyone quickly.

Also, just to be clear, while I was responding to your post, I was not directing my comment(s) specifically at you. Hopefully anyone reading it will find themselves more likely, even if just by an infinitesimal iota, to “do something” that improves the 'Space when they see/feel a need.
