I’ve heard it’s much better to buy ABS from a brick and mortar store than online and was wondering if there were any DMS favorites nearby?
Thanks!

It’s not close to the space (but close to my house!) - Micro Center on 75 / Central @ Spring Valley in Richardson has quite the selection of 3d filament.
Tanner Electronics stocks filament now, including ABS. It’s a <5 minute walk from the DMS front door.

Are prices usually comparable?
And I know we can use abs but can we use the different types of abs like wood abs filament?
Just plain ABS - anything “exotic” like wood or metal filaments or Nylon requires extra training.
Spool I got recently was $20 versus the $30 I’ve seen the same spool on Amazon. 1kg of MG Chemical ABS filament. They had some more but I didn’t peek too much at the selection.

I’ve had good, consistent results printing with Inland ABS from MicroCenter on 75. They mix ABS, PLA, and PETG, as well as 1.75mm and 3mm all on the same shelves, so double-check before you commit. Many colors to choose from.
Typically $18-20/KG (works out to 1.8-2.0 cents per gram vs 10 cents per gram from DMS). Prices before tax, but still cheap!
FWIW, I use Inland PLA at home, too.
Inland is the only PLA I’ve had destroy a printer. Their QA is poor and I’ve had an overwrap that caused a spool that was impossible to feed mid way through without unseating the filament from the extruder, passing it back over itself, and refeeding.
With a wall mounted bulk-spool holder the printer lifted off the table, filament snapped, and it bounced and tumbled to the concrete floor.
Is this a common case? No, but any manufacturer that has that type of failure is a failure of a QA process so I won’t buy it again.
