I received the newsletter today that BattleBots Season 2 on ABC is expected to be filmed late in March or Early/Mid April 2016 in Southern California (all tentative at this time).

So I had a call with the folks at Battlebots today, as I had a few ideas for a new concept bot I was thinking of applying with. I have decided based on their feedback to go ahead and apply. The way it works is they will be selecting 54 teams for the event (48 + alternates) based on applications that are due on the 14th of December. The application needs to include basically the full CAD design, electrical schematic, deco/theme details and a video of the team.
If anyone is interested in being part of my team or just helping out with the build (cnc parts, etc) I would be happy to have some help. The build time frame is very tight if accepted (about 4-6 weeks) starting in mid-January, and the event would happen in late march or early April in California.

The rules seem incredibly open ended, it’s amusing that if you have a swarm of flying minibots the only restriction is they each be less than 10 pounds, and if they shoot flames to only do so in a downward direction. Could even have projectiles as long as they aren’t entanglement devices and wouldn’t damage the lexan walls.
