I have one whiskey barrel worth of metal hoops and some barrel staves if anyone is interested. Free if you want it. I’ll be around tomorrow.
I’d be interested in both, but especially the hoops for blacksmthing.
Sure, can I leave them in the blacksmithing area?
Yes. Just let me know when you drop them off.
Oooooohhhh!!! I would be interested
wood or hoops? or both?
Both if possible
I can pick them up tomorrow, but I’m sure I don’t need ALL of them. More than willing to share.
Just an FYI. When I worked a Rockler briefly they sold whiskey barrel staves. They still do it appears.

They make nice pens, chair legs and even a table leg or two.
I’m actually more interested in the steel for the hoops for blacksmithing classes. We can forge them into other things.
They also have some value:

Wow! $25 for 3 small staves! You can get a whole barrel for around $100 at local breweries / distilleries. I made this table a while back. Pretty fun project but barrel wood doesnt like to be square or flat. I’ll be up there tomorrow at some point (hopefully) looking like it may have to be Thursday. I’ll leave a few pieces for the folks who have asked and the rest for blacksmithing. All are spoken for now. Happy sanding!
Ok, sorry folks. I’ll be at the space Thurs AM, not tomorrow. I’ll post here when I drop of the stuff.
Sounds good.
BTW: Ryan are these galvanized hoops? If they are blacksmithing nor metalshop can use them because we don’t allow galvanized steel to be heated in either shop due to toxic fume generation from zinc when heated. I hope they are not, but I fear that they are because some of the hoops I’ve seen on Amazon are. They can, of course, be worked cold, however, so someone else may find them useful.
The bottom line is that you can feel free to leave them in the blacksmith shop, but someone else will have to find a purpose for them.
If they are ungalvenizd then blacksmithing would love them,.
they are galvanized. I left them near the aprons with a note that they are not for hot work. Ket me know if you can’t use them and I’ll dispose of them.
both are in the back of the workshop where ceramics used to be located. @zacharymarkson is looking for some as well.
I shall pick up in the morning
