I was hoping to use the lift in the near future and i dont see any classes to get checked out on it. Are there any automotive classes planned in the near future? I assume we still need to be checked out.
Thanks in advance

Awesome thanks for the quick response. Another question. If I want to bring a friend that isn’t a member to help me change some brake pads is that allowed? Or does everyone have to be a member to be in there?
They don’t have to be a member to be present if with you, but they can’t use the tools etc. See section on guests: Rules and Policies - Dallas Makerspace

I’d also like to take the lift class. I’m available most nights of the week if we want to combine and do it once.
If people happen to catch me at the space more often than not I can do a spot class. I don’t have a regular schedule there, but I tend to be present most between late afternoon and very very early morning.
Cheers,

Hello All,
Will anyone be available to teach the Automotive 102 Lift class this Saturday, 9/1? I have just become a member here at the makerspace and would like to use the automotive area to do some exhaust work on my car this weekend.
Additionally, apologies for the noob question - Where should I make the $20 donation to the automotive committee? I’ve been unable to find where to do this on the website, so I’m assuming this must be at one of those donation stations at the space itself.
Appreciate the help and super excited to be a part of this awesome community. Thanks!
I’m moving your request to this other thread, where two other people just asked for lift class also.
I’m also interested in a lift class, if its going to be sometime next week/weekend.
When a class isn’t done through the calendar, you can put $20 in an envelope (provided on the sides of the various kiosks or next to the copier) and mark down your Name, DMS ID, and that it’s for the Automotive Committee (lift training) and drop it in the finance box next to the copier.

Thank you! Will get that done the next time I’m there.
You make the payment when you take the class.
Cheers,
-Jim
Gotcha, thanks for the further clarification.
Is that an SW20?
It is indeed. its a '91 with an older V6 swapped in and a supercharger strapped to that. It also features a blown head gasket right now.
I’m in as well
DOPE, my first car was a 86 mr2 and my second car was a 91 Mr2 Turbo!
I blew up my first MR2, and an on my 5th motor in this one. Technically I own an '86 as well, but it’s in a field in Austin with a bunch of missing parts and has been for about a decade.
It sounds like we have 3 or 4 people interested in the class now.
Would someone mind putting another one on the calendar? It just makes it easier for everyone to coordinate times, rather than playing the right place, right time game.
I’m up for anytime this week after 5:00 or so.
Any word on something happening?
