Autodesk buys Cadsoft makers of Eagle CAD

Premier Farnell today announces that, together with its wholly owned subsidiary Celdis Limited, it has completed the sale of Cadsoft Computer GmbH (“Cadsoft”) and the assets used in connection with the sale of Cadsoft products in the US (together “the Business) to a subsidiary of Autodesk Inc. (“Autodesk”).

Oh crap. Expect the licensing to move to subscription models and the price to go up 50 to 100%. :frowning:

Autodesk already has a education free software section, is there a reason we have to buy it as a non-profit?

Kicad is your friend. At least with that, you stand a chance at fixing bugs.

I agree. I used KiCad recently, was very impressed with it and don’t have to worry about the limitations of Eagle’s free version.
