Thanks for posting these Stan. I really like the idea of data like this being available in order to gauge our effectiveness.
67 visitors is great! I’d like to see higher signup rates. @Team_Infrastructure mentioned they can start getting us some more data. Even something like “how did you hear about us?” from the waivers could be useful in order to gauge if future advertisement outreach, etc. is effective to our bottom line.
I’m also interested in giving just a little more structure to our tour program. This time around, having guides lined up ahead of time, sprucing up the lobby, and following a common tour path were all things we incorporated. I also had several committees agree ahead of time to give a minute or two explanation of their area. I feel this can be improved even more.
Lastly, we displayed our Dallas Public Library art pieces for the evening before our artists take them back. We got many nice comments about the pieces and were able to plug our new exhibit at the Fretz park library. (6990 belt line rd)
Down the road, it would be an interesting idea to field a 2nd tour night on the weekends.
I would love to hear anyone’s ideas on how to improve these numbers!
Is a history dump of these stats available?
This data does not exist. We only started collecting this recently.
Thursday nights after tours close, I go look at SmartWaiver and at WHMCS to get the numbers. This is currently a manual process.
The historic data exists, but a convenient method to access it doesn’t currently exist, nor does an in-house datastore for it exist. Both of these will require design and programmer time, and is not currently on Infrastructures roadmap.
If the Data Group wants to create such a datastore, there are API’s available for both pieces of software.
Great job tour leaders!
In the early days, we gave talks to bring more people in, and then later invited whoever was interested out to eat. I wish there was a restaurant within walking distance of the Space.
You can export out all the smart waiver data and do the reporting.
It also has out of the box reporting.
How do I join?
I’m down to help if we go this way instead of out of the box reporting

Do you think it would be possible to ask people to fill out an anonymous short survey before they leave?
We might be able to get some data around why they didn’t sign up.
A bit of definitive data should point us in the right direction.
Sounds like a great idea. I’ve made a sample survey: https://survey.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_beFrw7oMLLKsEq9
Any ideas on what other information we want to ask for?
How about a question:
Do you plan to join DMS?
Yes, I already signed up.
I plan to sign up in the future.
No, it didn’t interest me.
No, it costs too much.
No, it’s too far.

Added a version of this.
“After seeing our facility, do you plan to join Dallas Makerspace?”
“I already have”
“No” (please tell us why in a few words)
I prefer to have a blank if they answer no, rather than presenting them with choices that may bias or shorten their response.
My favorite version of that type question is:
Are you interested in joining Dallas Makerspace? [Yes] or [No] Why?
This gives the folks who only want to give a quick answer an out. The folks who do want to say more, have space to do so. Food for thought.
