I have owned a pair of these for years…I bought them back when I moved here to Dallas area and felt they were the best speakers I had ever listened too, much less owned. But I can’t remember the last time I had them hooked up. I just don’t listen to music and home theater like I used too.
These speakers were designed by a guy named Arnie Nudel. If you are an audiophile then you probably recognize his name: https://www.stereophile.com/content/arnie-nudell-infinity-genesis.

$400 for the pair.

Spurious question : How resistant to tipping/fall damage are they when a cat decides to do a maximum-Wheaties horizontal leap from the top? Asking for a friend…

They are fairly heavy as well as bottom heavy, possibly by design. I just tried weighing them…a little awkward but somewhere around 55 lbs on a base of 14"D x 9"W. Hard to imagine them falling/tipping over unless pushed from side with intent. I’ve owned and cat-sit several cats, as well as bumped into them (the speakers, not the cats) while vacuuming, etc. in the past. Never an issue.
edit: biggest danger from cats is the scratch post effect re: cloth speaker fronts/covers. I don’t remember any damage in the past, but I can go take a good look/get pictures if serious interest develops.
I removed the cloth grilles from my present set of random-closeout Sony’s partially because of that hazard … and partially because the fleabags were working on breaking them by knocking them over all the time.
Bumping one time before I post to C/L tomorrow.
