Attention Makers! Together, Let's help Australia!

We are going to be posting 2 events to the calendar on Thursday 1/16/20 starting 6 pm and Saturday 1/18/20 at 3:30 pm: For every proof of receipt for a donation made to any of the legitimate donation funds, you will be able to choose a donated crafted item, mostly ceramic in nature as of right now.

Some good sites for donation right now, are:

The Country Fire Authority in Victoria:

The NSW Rural Fire Service:
https://quickweb.westpac.com.au/OnlinePaymentServlet?cd_community=NSWRFS&cd_currency=AUD&cd_supplier_business=DONATIONS&action=EnterDetails

WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue:
https://www.wires.org.au/

Australian Red Cross:

There are many others that are good too, like specific koala hospitals and other wildlife rescues…

I am also requesting donated items from those that would like to add their pieces (Does not have to be ceramic) for more choices on the table.

Please know that every little bit helps them… Even $5.

Thank you in advance for your support and if you can, spread the word!

Thanks for organizing this, @Christykaake. I donated via Facebook already, but would like to defer my maker gift to someone who needs an added incentive to donate.

When is the latest I can donate an item for the gift table?

Thank you  @monikat is helping with this a lot too
Either one of those days would be the deadline  I am thinking people can drop off their stuff at those times or I am also thinking of trying to get a project shelf for people to drop things on…

Agreed either the 26th or the 18th would be the best. If that doesn’t work we could consider another event down the road.

For those without monetary discretion but who have a good fabric stash another big need for them are pouches for the rescue. As far as I know they must be anti-pill or blizzard fleece and have hidden seams (similar to French upholstery) for all the critters involved and various sizes are needed from sugar gliders up to kangaroos.

@MrsMoose I don’t have a fabric stash, but I’m signed off on the sewing machine. Maybe we could have an Astrud-style sew-a-thon. @Print_Witch, are you up for it?

Sounds like fun if I wasn’t grounded! I did get some clearance fleece from Joann’s though to sew during open studio with the kids tomorrow. Let me know and I’ll get the address or arrange somehow to include in with the Guardians shipment if you want

Tuesday, Astrud told me she was planning to schedule a “sew for a cause” event to make variously sized pouches.

@Hardsuit -can you let her know about this thread?
