I just joined the Makerspace and would like to know when the next woodshop safety course will be? I checked the calendar and had not seen any that were scheduled. I wasn’t sure if it’s something that should be asked about in the message board, but I wanted to give it a try.

While I haven’t formally joined I will once I can take the intro safety classes.
Actually, this is the new normal. Before the pandemic, classes were frequent. Now they’re held more when people ask for them. Woodshop isn’t my area, but I’m sure someone from woodshop will reply before too long.

There are several members who have been teaching and they post when classes get added. Most frequently have been @ScienceElf and @cvrana. This works best if you can get 3 people together to setup a full class so that the instructors can receive honorarium.
I keep on the lookout for them and end up always missing them before they fill up.
I just submitted one for Tuesday, Sept 1st. You should see it live on the schedule around 10 am on Sunday.

I am in a similar position of wanting training soon, so I am joining the discussion. Based on your wiki, I am hoping to take woodshop 1, 2 and 3 classes. Also, I am willing to compensate if that incentivizes anyone to help me get these done in a timely manner!

Oh shoot, same here, I missed out on registering. Didn’t realize It would be an issue. There’s a 3 person max on training? Is this a new COVID thing or is this usually the case?
Covid thing. With 3 + an instructor we can still keep in our own space during the training. Adding 1 more person seems to bring people shoulder to shoulder.
I post at least 2 training sessions a month. Have done a couple of private trainings for a fee but really don’t like doing that and charging for the safety class. I would like to teach more but it drastically cuts into my personal project time which is why I joined in the first place.
I will post another one for mid-month. Right now I don’t have any private classes on my radar.

@ScienceElf Okay, I completely understand! Thank you for breaking it down for me.
I’ll just make one last note/request; if there is anyone else that does trainings that is able to squeeze one into their schedule before Nathan’s next mid-month training, I would greatly appreciate it. Time is more valuable than money to me right now as I’m trying to hit the ground running on a project and waiting another 3 weeks or more to join the makerspace is not ideal.
