any interest in looking into the process of getting one placed in the lobby?
Ps yes I know I failed to make one work. Thanks for the reminder of my failures.

What a world we live in. At least you have big dreams. This would be awesome!
I want this so bad! How cool would it be for people on tours to be able to walk away with art crafted at our place!!! I would totally donate items for this venture. How many millions of dollars is it?
I looked into them when I was trying to build one (I hit it with a hammer…it counts).
they charge a monthly rent in exchange for stocking the machine with goods from artists (artists buy the boxes as well).
I’m thinking (but it’s not my right to think for this organization) the best way to go about it would be to see about getting a working machine and allowing us to fill it ourselves. However, having a steady dedicated group of makers committed to keeping it full - and the fact that special coins must be purchased for the machine to work might be a kicker.
Just thinking out loud.
Have you seen the YouTube video of the lady who’s putting up hacked snack machines around Portland? Art, interesting crap, coming home from the bar “I need an eyepatch” moments are all fulfilled with the machines. Might be easier to do.
This would be a very compelling item in the lobby on Tour Nights, and other times really. Plus, it just looks cool.
I love this. We have a small quarter-operated vending machine that might be fun to experiment with too.
What forms of payment does it accept? Cash? Credit card? Chits?
The three that I’ve bought from have had you take $5 to a place to get a specific coin and you use that. It’s always been someone you give it to.
Yup fun things for fun people
I really really really want to do this. I have no electrical know how but I really really want to do this.
What if we took the concept and just built a machine that we could fill ourselves? Each committee could be given a row to fill.
If only we knew of a place that had electricians, woodworkers and fabricators all in one place?
That sounds like a wonderful place - we should all go to there.
Vending machines aren’t terribly expensive. You just have to know where to look.
What happened to the one getting bashed with the hammer? I don’t see paying rent for one being a good idea, but I totally see doing this as a community project being a fantabulous one. I can put out some nets for a donation?
All someone has to do is pony up a Committee Chair who would say “i want a vending machine for x committee.”
I know where one is right now that I can pick up in a couple of weekends. Price unknown at the moment, but everything else has been extremely reasonable from that source. Hell, they even donated a bunch of hand tools to Vector.
Raymond, are you able to find out the price for us before commitment?
Some of theses take credit cards: How cool would it be to add a few items to this for DMS branded merch as a fundraiser. I’m thinking stickers; pens, and other small lightweight items.
It will be probably a couple of weeks before the next sales event at the warehouse (VERY hot in an unairconditioned warehouse) but I’ll get pics and a price.
