Continuing the discussion from Tow hitches with good quality light hookup:
A full size truck with a huge engine, decent offroad capability, a suspension that can handle something vaguely resembling racing, and towing capability? Thatâs hilarious and awesome and stupid and amazing all at once. Yes please.
Starting at fifty grand? Thatâs a big nope.
No wonder I struggle to select vehicles whenever I need a new one.
that isnât plywood and âfitsâ would be tail gate closedâŚ
@TBJK I suggest buying a Smart Car and some ramps for the bed of your Raptor
Arent you the one that complains about the chicken tax? What chicken tax truck fits plywood with the bed closed?
Good point Tom, that makes it easier to sell.
When I first started looking at them, I thought I remembered them having superchargers on them. I have found that not to be the case after my research.
Now I have been toying with the idea of taking a standard F-150 with the 6.2 & updating the piss out of it. Throw a whipple on it, port the hell out the heads or replace them all together. Modify the transmission, better transfer case. Then go play. I want to basically build a streetable ultra4 car/trophy truck with the creature comforts of roll up windows, good seats & air conditioning. Push something like 7-800 rwhp. Obviously I would update the suspension as well.
Lol probably not a new one for me anyway. A good used one could be had for mid 30âs. Iâm not much for V6âs, even if it does make a little more power by adding 2 turbos.
Especially when all those features can be acquired/customized with a standard F-150âŚtrying to sell a fully âcustomâ sporty truck with MSRP equivalent to going solar, funding my sons future, and so on⌠Yeah, I am good on that.
Enjoy your Sunday morning banter gentlemen

I donât like the chicken tax - I donât think it is reasonable that the federal government protects the us manufactured truck and van market with a 25% tax - do you? Obviously this didnât help the idiots at GM, Chrysler or Jeep now did it?
Canât buy any trucks that I have distrust towards intake/manifold ⌠Mostly meaning I canât buy a Ford
I know a guy who did just thatâŚ
He sold for 36K - pretty sure the truck was a salvage
Lol. Thatâs another reason I donât really consider GM or Dodge. Ford didnât take the bail but. It was Dodges 2nd time in 30 years.
Obama Motors !
Dodge/Jeep - you mean Fiat now!
Walter Chrysler would be disappointed!
Wish Jeep would⌠separateâŚ
I have looked though at the GM engine line, downfall is they still want quite a bit of coin for base model stuff. In looking for a GM 6.2, they kept getting about 5k to get a salvage one. Fordâs 6.2 can be had for less than half of that.
Me too. I donât like that is seems like there is Fiat pressure.
I think Jeep probably kept Dodge/Chrysler from needing a bailout sooner.
Maybe Tata will buy it if they separate, they bought Land Rover.
