Anybody looking for a very capable Arduino platform may want to keep an eye on Apollo.
This is an impressive development platform with built-in Wi-Fi/ BLE & many sensors (incl. GPS!), an OLED display and a 3 function trackball. The prototype I saw at CES is extremely compact and appears very well made. There was also a motor controller shield with larger connections.

They are squarely targeting makers, and are actively looking for beta testers. I’m guessing that at least one or two DMS members would be interested 
They expect to launch an Indiegogo campaign in February.
