Anyone want to buy my old diesel conversion van?

It has quite a few issues and would be a big project vehicle. Might be best to just gut it for the engine, which is a 94’ Diesel 6.5L Chevy engine. I think the injection pump was going faulty, and the electrical junction under the hood was loosened which seemed to cause a grounding issue causing the electrical to act screwy. When it ran, it was flawless and I drove it all over america. Has good tires and the interior is ready for converting. I will sell it for cheap. It is parked in a driveway in Irving. Anyone interested ??? I need to sell it before the tags go out and the city flags it!

I talk about the fuel/electrical issues with it in this thread: Redirecting...

Just got Allen’s VW Cabriolet … otherwise I’d love to get this. Still might. Does it run at all, as in it could move from one place to another for working on?

Those that have not seen the van it is in great condition and does not look as old as it is.

the engine only has like 100k miles on it, one previous owner who took great care of it. I have all the manuals for it. I pulled out the seats in the back so there’s carpet, lights, and window shades but no furniture (yet). The van does not drive currently because of the electrical and it wouldn’t turn over because of whaever the fuel issue was… The last guess was that there is a fuel pump in the tank that was bad, or the ignition pump had a faulty sensor inside of it. It is a can of worms but if someone is brave and knows about diesel engines they could have an awesome ride that should be good for another 200k miles

You know you need this Dave!
Most injection pumps last a lifetime - hella lot a miles, and just need a few seals every now and then…
The only scary part is - that is a GM…

Is that one of the diesels built on a gas engine blocks? I don’t know when they quit selling them but 100,000 miles might be a record if it is one of those poorly designed diesels. I heard that some dealers made good money changing the diesels out for gas engines at 30,000 miles.

I guess it was Oldsmobile diesels that I was thinking about. They were made from 1978 to 1985 and the stopped selling them after the lawsuits.

Gimli,

That is what I was wondering - the Army was littered with Hummers with close to worthless na GM diesels in the 1980s/90s

Darcy took good care of her van though - it is a shame to see it sit and do nothing. I really think Photomancer needs it! He’d probably fit it better wth ponytail tho

I did a mod on the engine so that the PMD is located under the hood with a heatsink and 12v fan attached so that it kept it cool to prevent future failure. I initially followed this guide to bring it back to life. I wish it had been this easy the second time around. 6.5L Diesel Engine Cranking But Not Starting Diagnostic Guide

Satan be gone! Speakest not thy silver lubed tongue of machines desired that will vex and burden me all days days. Thou knowest my heart too well!

What about fixing it and I pay someone to have it repaired? this whole conversation is making me miss my van!

I see potential for a @Photomancer new dms condo out back.

Nah, the Cruel Bus is my inspiration … really want to Plasma Cam some moving grill teeth and hydraulics on hood that snaps open and shut when a howling horn is pushed. Mannequin Arms as turn signal semaphores.

Definitely a fog generator so when ever I’m at a stop a cloud comes out from under the hood.
