Any Bridgeport or HAAS Mill training / safety class on the near horizon?
I’ll schedule a couple of Bridgeport classes over the next few days. Then post to Talk.
Woot! I will be keeping an eye out for these too
I need you to cancel these so I can resubmit, I did not realize I didn’t request the honorarium for machine shop and Purple Classroom and machine are locked.
Thanks and sorry
FeatureCam, the software we had been using for the HAAS is no more. Bryan and volunteers will have to make the transition to HSMworks before classes resume.
Has there been any talk on a timeframe to get ramped up with HSMworks or is the HAAS training in a long term holding pattern for now until that gets ironed out? I’m wondering if the committee feels this is probably a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or possibly 4th quarter 2017? Or not sure yet?
NOT speaking for the committee.
I and several others are working on getting the curriculum material updated. I would suspect it would be no sooner then first quarter of next year. Unlike most of the classes at the makerspace, this one was a twelve hour class…
I would also suggest that people giving tours let prospective members know about the potential delay in their being able to access the HAAS
Is there another machine that can cut smaller aluminum pieces? I noticed on the Wiki there is a EMCO PC Mill 50; however, I have found little on google as to what it can do as far a dimensions and axis. If so, is there anyone willing to train on the tool?
Depends on how what you are trying to do. The Shapeoko in CA can machine aluminum and brass - but isn’t for general “machining” it is for light shallow cuts for making printing dies and such.
Oh, the EMCO is gone.
What are you trying to do? If you can do it with a manual mill, if you see me at the Space (I’m the other “Chuck”) I’d be happy to help you on the Bridgeport.
