Antique glass experts

I’ve been a long time collector of mid century modern glassware like Viking, LE Smith etc, and I now have a pretty trained eye for it.

I recently bought some depression glass and I’m pretty sure it’s by the Federal Glass Co., and is a Sharon “Cabbage Rose” Springtime Green Candy Dish. But the green color seems off. In all articles I can find online the green is supposed to be a lighter green which gives me pause on claiming the authenticity of this piece. Can anyone with expertise weigh in?

Yeah. That looks like it’s probably a reproduction. The green isn’t dark enough to be Forest Green, but that’s much too dark for the depression glass. I don’t know/remember if real depression glass has any marks on the bottom? Check your other pieces. I’m sure this piece doesn’t.

My wife has several pieces of depression era glass she got from her Aunts who worked in the glass factory making different pieces. I found her a book with pictures of the same pieces she has and it highlights pieces from several factories that produced during that time. The color of the glass seems to depend on which factory produced them. New Martinsville Factory produced a fairly dark green glass so I don’t think you can determine its authenticity just by the color.

That’s super helpful, thank you. I also found the exact shape and pattern on the Corning museum of glass website. So I’m pretty convinced it’s authentic.
