Antimony: new programmatic CAD software

Thought this would be interesting to our CAD and 3D printer folks. Looks like a promising project.

I downloaded this yesterday to try it and see what its capabilities were.

Following the directions and verifying that my linux box had all needed software and libraries installed I attempted to perform its compilation instructions. All I got was several pages of error messages stating that the software’s structures (not library or external modules) had no member named ‘???’.

It might be something I did, but I just don’t think this software is really out of the alpha stage at this point.

Looks kind of like graphical SCAD. I just dipped my toes into the OpenSCAD waters yesterday, and I’m actually liking it a lot. I’ll probably be doing more of my 3D modelling with it, as it gives me more excuses to use Vim for crazy things.

I actually do like openscad for 3d printed objects, but its export file types arent really suited for CAM.
