(Another?) Lift Donation

My friend south of benbrook has this lift. I notice you just acquired a 2 post lift. This is a different kind of lift. More like a ‘storage’ kind of lift. Except it has ramps to drive on, and also some sort of additional little lift mounted on it, like an engine jack. It’s pretty big.

If DMS is interested in this and is able to arrange for collection, please let me know. The last time I poked it, it worked fine.

That is most of a 4-post alignment rack. The “little lift” is for picking up the front end on vehicles which require it during an alignment or for performing other such duties as requires the wheels at either end to be lifted e.g. brake job. It’s missing the rotation plates, but without all the alignment gear and computer head it’s hardly relevant.

On a side note, I sure wish I could buy it from him and had enough $$ to remodel. From the pic it looks pretty good…

Thanks for the offer but the most we could do with it would be to scavenge parts off it and sell it for scrap as we don’t have room for a 4 post lift.

Maybe then we could put aquaponics up above the artificial ceiling?

Any hydraulics? Ken and I are working on putting together a Black powder rocket class and a hydraulic pump and cylinder would go to great use to pressing rockets.

@jmasseo How much would he want for it if it didn’t got to DMS? I am building a shop and would be interested in it. Especially if he just wants it out I could come get it ASAP if that’s what he wants.

We could mount the 2 post lift to this lift to get cars extra high.

Yo dog, I heard you like lifts so I got a lift for your lift so you can lift your lift while you lift your car.

Out ASAP is what he wants. Some cash would be a nice plus. Ideally to a good home and not to the scrap yard. I can take it to the scrap yard myself.
It’s about 10 minutes south of benbrook on 377.

@jmasseo I will email you late tonight. I can come get it during this week, is it already torn down? I can throw in a little cash for it.

the DMS should get this and install it out back in the parking area…these do not have to be bolted down

Are they weather-proof?

Are they child-proof?

They are indeed weatherproof.

you would have to define “child - proof” for me…I ask due to the ‘child like’ responses to my post about donating my old (now installed) lift.

Pretty well weather-proof.
How would they need to be child-proof? As in, child can’t operate? Unless they have the key I assume would be preventing anyone unauthorized from unlocking and using it, yes.

Oops. Tom beat me with about the same answers/questions…

If it were in our parking lot, what would prevent passers-by from monkeying with it?

security cameras, 24-7 activity, locked functionality…

Opcode,

You can never prevent everything - if it were installed outside - the electrical cutoff to the hydraulic pump would be inside the building - that would prevent raising the lift.

Theft of the hydraulic power unit (electric motor and hydraulic pump/reservoir) would be the only vital and expensive piece that might be a target for theft. This is about a $600 +/- power unit.

Many many garages leave four post lifts out in the weather - they last for decades without issues. Few of the parts are exposed the UV light. Those that are - well they are easily sourced and replaced. It is a no brainer.

The DMS has cameras but I think a sniper on the roof would cure anything from say midnight until 10am

Doesn’t seem like it would be worth asking the landlord for permission, plus that would be outside my green square
