Air Quality and Contamination

It is worth keeping in mind that Bio shares the same space as a lot of other industrial processes. Everything from woodworking to welding to automotive repair to soldering to painting to machining takes place in the near vicinity of the plants and animals we are growing. My concern is that toxic materials could contaminate our products. Growing might be fine (though, some sensitive biologics might not survive some contamination), but eating might not. It might be good if we had a means of at least testing the air and water. We could also send plant samples to a professional lab (such as A&M) for a nominal fee for testing.

Off the cuff, if it is toxic enough to the plants to filter through to what we eat, then I would have a bigger concern of ventilation while using the equipment itself. I think this is a good idea, and would highlight concerns for the other areas.

I don’t know how one would go about it, but if you figure out a way to do it that’d be interesting.
